ABOUT THE EVENT

Unlocking Climate-Smart Digital Trade Facilitation in Africa
Advancing Sustainability Under AfCFTA
(Bridging digital innovation & Policy impacts between "Social, Industry, Govt, Research, and Academia")

The recent UNCTAD Report on Climate-Smart Trade Facilitation underscores the need to embed climate resilience in trade policies. Key strategies include:

1.) Digitalization of Trade Procedures: Digital platforms for customs documentation, cargo tracking, and trade management can reduce paper usage, minimize delays, and lower emissions from border congestions
2.) Green Supply Chains: Incentivizing climate-resilient infrastructure, such as solar-powered cold chain facilities, can improve food security and reduce post-harvest losses.
3.) Energy-Efficient Transport Systems: Shifting to electric trucks and enhancing railway networks will reduce Africa's heavy reliance on carbon-intensive road transport.

Webinar is planned for: 30th April 2025Time: 10 am CET/ SA, 9 am WAT/NAT, & 8 am GMT for a duration of 2hr.30mins
